Titus 1 = Elders - Bishop

5  For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting,
and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

If any be blameless, = free of guilt - free from errors of responsibilities
the husband of one wife, = Not multiple wives
having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. = misbehave, uncontrollable
7  For a bishop must
be blameless, = free of guilt- free from errors of responsibilities
as the steward of God; = manager of the church affairs
not self-willed, =  self- pleasing, self-important
not soon angry, = prone to anger
not given to wine, = drunken
no striker, =  contentious, quarrelsome person
not given to filthy lucre;  =  eager for base gain, greedy for money
8  
But a lover of hospitality, = generous to guests
a lover of good men, = loving goodness
sober, = sound mind, sane,  self-control
just, = righteous
holy, = free from wickedness
temperate; = strong, controlling, restraining, self-control
9  Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine
both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
